Biography
Since she could hold a crayon, Susan Gill Jackson has been fascinated with color. Throughout her life she has researched various media, concentrating on color combinations, balance technique and effects. |
Exposed to the arts since childhood, Susan studied graphic design at Ohio University. She has also completed course-work in painting at Kent State University and at various workshops and seminars. Susan is currently a member of the Steamboat Springs Arts Council and the California Art Club having won numerous awards throughout the country.
Susan has designed stained-glass art windows and painted wall murals from contemporary to trompe l’oeil designs. Accomplished in her colored pencil technique, Susan has a talent for portraying character and personality in her subject, especially when illustrating children’s books.
Exposure to painting “en plein air” has introduced Susan to her true passion - the search for light and color in the great outdoors and in the world of impressionism.
Before pursuing her freelance career, Susan worked in advertising and traveled the world as a TWA cabin attendant.
Susan insists her greatest works of art are her three children who are grown and have pursued degrees in various art forms, following in their mother’s footsteps.
